Experimenting

I've been attempting resin again this week, with some successes and some failures. Before I get onto that, here's the update on the stitch.  Three quarters of the way done! Now it gets onto the part where you cannot get a stitch wrong, or one of the boys will end up cross eyed or something.  I've also made a card, using paper dolls, remnant rubs, a snarky sentiments, globes and tonic drops.  The original plan was butterflies in the globes, but I didn't have ones small enough. I compensated by adding wings to the paper dolls.  Onto the resin.  This would probably have been better with the sand and blue water reversed, but it still works. If you look closely, there's a whale just cresting the water on the right hand side.  This is better, with the clear and coloured resin the correct way around.  I've learned that jelly fish sink head down, so layers would be better, but I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to match the colouring. Still, it works.  The brown l

Keyrings

I've been playing with resin this week, thanks to some new buys.  All have got mica powder I'm some form. There are gold flakes in the letters and black mickey heads, and glitter in the green and yellow mickey heads. The pink hearts were a happy accident. I poured clear resin and Mylor flakes, then a layer of pink mica powder, but they mixed. It actually looks pretty cool! I've also made a card, using lawn fawn pinata stamp.  Finally, here is the update on the stitch.  It's getting there!  Until next time Ems

Tonic

Just a quick one this week. Before I get on to what I've made, here is the update on the stitch.  This week I dug out my tonic studio dies to make a card.  I did want to use just green, but the die didn't cut out well in the corner, so I quickly made some flowers. All of the die cut pieces are from the same kit, and the leaves for the flowers were actually the pieces from the circle. After adding the flowers I grabbed a Drop bottle, to give it some matching colour.  Until next time Ems

Boxes!

Why is it that some weeks I have too much time on my hands and a mind block creativity wise, and other weeks it's the opposite? This week has been a bit of an outlier. I've not only had some creative thoughts, but I've had the time to figure them out too! First thing I made was a galaxy paper set of drawers. I've used these mini drawers before, but this was the first time I thought to take the knobs off! I've wanted to use paper before but never been able to. At least I know I can now.  The second one was a simple box. I started by digging through my resin pieces, to choose what I wanted for the lid. I've got a lot of resin pieces in my stash, so this took a while! Once chosen, I glued them on, coated them in black gesso, then in copper wax. Finally I added patina wax for an aged look.  I also made a pair of earrings. I've had these lucite flowers for a while, so I paired them up with multiconnector charms and silver leaves.  Finally, here is the update on t
