Looking out to sea

I was inspired this week to make a marine themed piece. I started off by painting an mdf window black and then coating it with vintage silk wax. This is perfect for driftwood . I then chose a galaxy card for the background. Once that was done I added various elements including art stones. I wanted to keep a muted theme so I painted some sequin mermaid tails with metallique paint, painting them while they were still wet with black gesso to get a darker feel. I also painted resin pieces. The shells were painted with chalk paints and antiquung cream. The flowers were painted with sparks paints. The seaweed is christmas light snipart broken up and coloured with Lindy sprays. I've also been working on the stitch. I've completed all the half stitch bits on this page now.  Until next time Ems

Blue skies but stuck inside

Do you remember when you were at school during the last term of the school year, and all you could see outside was a glorious blue sky, and when the teacher called you to attention your eyes had to adjust to the gloom of the classroom? That's how I've been feeling this weekend. Glorious weather and I'm stuck in the office. I'm almost expecting to see a clock of sheep outside my window (primary school in albrighton) anyway, onto the makes. First of all, here is the stitch update. I've also made two clocks this week. Using papers not paints is a lot harder and I made a few mistakes.  Finally I have made a card for my brother using some of Tim holtz 2019 dies. Possibly my best card yet! Until next time! Ems

By the light of the moon

Full work week this week, but I have managed to finish something. I started by grabbing a sweet tin lid and filling it with sand texture paste and art pebbles. I painted this black and coated it with blue wax. I then added snowflake paste in parts, spraying these blue. I painted some Tim holtz stars with gold paint, and some felt cogs with copper paint. Finally I added a rose resin moon, a gold snipart piece and a phrase. The texture paste has worked really well cos it almost looks like rock Crystal. As well as this, there has been good progress on the safari stitch. I reckon it'll take me a lot less time to complete this page. Ems

Numbers

I've felt more productive this week craft wise. Still not wholly there health wise but I'm getting better. I've made a few things. To start with, here is the update on the stitch. I've finally finished the first page! A lot of this page is half stitching, so hopefully it'll be a bit quicker than the last page. It's always slow when starting a new page as you have to plot key parts so you can work off those. I've also made a clock this week. It's a tando creative kit. I haven't put the clock mechanism on it yet cos I'm figuring out how it attaches. I started off by painting each layer black. The bottom layer was coloured with vintage silk wax, the second with silver and the top with gold. It was originally the other way round but I mixed up the layers. Thankfully I managed to salvage it. I then used bronze and silver paint for some of the Numbers, and rose gold wax and yellow rust paste for the others. I had to throw away my Orange rust paste ...
