Donuts!

No, not the delightfully delicious yet pound inducing sugary snack, donut beads! I got a grab bag from beads direct ages ago which had some in, and despite looking, I couldn't find them anywhere. I didn't actually know what they were called till recently, when I saw them on totally beads website. I ordered a load on Friday, and they came yesterday! Amazing service. I decided to use gold ones with some beads in my stash to make this necklace.  I can see these beads making good bracelets.  I've now finished page 5 of the stitch. Here is the update.  Until next time  Ems

Twit

The  title is two fold this week. One, I am a clumsy twit for tripping while holding shopping bags, ending up in a spectacular pratfall that thankfully only broke one egg. Two, twit is the beginning of a tawny owl call, and I've made an owl bracelet this week.  I wanted to whip up something quick for the blog, as I have started working on a bigger piece for the colorize dies, which is nowhere near finished.  Here is the update on the stitch. On page 5 now.  I'm deliberately avoiding showing the whole piece, on the ridiculously miniscule chance that the recipient actually reads my blog.  Here are the random pics of this week. When I went to work the other day there were spiders webs everywhere, yet they were gone when I came home. I tried to take a pic of a spider but my phone wouldn't focus. Until next time  Ems

When things change

Can I just say that I hate the new blogger layout. Does that mean I'm getting old cos I don't like things changing? Anyway, this week I have made a stag head. I was going to go steampunk but the clay was a bit soft, so I was only able to use the screws nuts and bolts moulds effectively. So, I used opal paints on black gesso, then a bit of wax to accentuate the hardware. I then added paper flowers and wax covered metal butterflies to the antlers.  Here is the update on the stitch. Slow progress this week. And here are this week's random photos.  The only bigger birds I'm used to seeing here are seagulls, so it was nice to see different for once.  Until next time Ems

Afternoon tea addict

I've had my third afternoon tea of this year. Does that make me an addict? So far, cutter and squidge win for theatrics, and yumii wins for taste. Gutted to hear they are moving to St Austell.  I've been making jewellery this week. Ended up having to remake one of the bracelets. Stringing material consideration is very important.  I've had those gold spacer beads for years now. At least they've come to good use.  Also been working on the stitch. A third of the way through now, so I'm back on track.  Now for the random pics. They include the afternoon tea, a cat on a roof at work, and some panoramic views of fistral.  This was on the wall of the local post office.  My screensaver at work. How cute! Makes me smile if I'm having a bad day.  Unicorn ice cream from Asda. Weird. Just weird.  Until next time,  Ems
