Bugs

Still trying to use what I have, and resist the urge to buy more, which is not easy when new stuff is being released! This week, I have made another tag.  This used tim holtz paper, a prima flower, tim holtz washi tape and sentiment, tonic drops, a tonic film strip die and a tim holtz geo insect die, backed with galaxy paper. Oh, and I used distress crayons and speckled egg distress glaze in the background.  Here is the update on the stitch.  You get the vague idea its an outstretched arm, but there's a lot still to do on this page, let alone the next 7. It will be a while before its recognisable.  I've dug out some old dies this week. One of them is a bit damaged, so I will be testing it to see if its still usable. As the others will not work without it, I might be selling them.  Until next time Ems

Getting crafty

So, I said last week that I would try and go back to basics, and I decided to make a tag. This is using an embossing folder and stamps from creative stamping magazine, and some scrabble tiles. The stamps were coloured with chameleon pens, before being fussy cut and attached with foam pads for some dimension.  I like it, and I love chameleon pens. For someone who is not great at blending, they are a no brainer.  I've also been stitching. I've finished my jack sparrow stitch.... ...and started my next one.  Until next time Ems

Freedom

I've not done much this week, so this will be a short one. I had actually started a project, but it went catastrophically wrong, so I had to chuck it. Sometimes you have to know when to give up on something, and not waste more time on it. You also need to learn that when something does fail, it doesn't mean that you are a failure. You can work hard on something, and it can still fail, sometimes due to pure luck. Its important to remember that. Its actually been a week of failure craft wise, as I actually ruined two moulds as well. Luckily, I bought them on sale so its not a massive loss.  I have made a simple pair of earrings this week. They were gold coloured, but I have a perfect vintaj colour to make them more appropriately coloured to the statue of liberty.  I've also done work on the stitch. I'm on the last page now, so should be finished by the end of January I think.  I'm going to try and go back to some basics next week. Its been a while since I've done

January blues

Nine days into a new year, and we are in another lockdown. Its more important than ever to stay at home. Being at home can be depressing, and if you are feeling low, reach out. To anyone.  I've started off the new year at a bit of a low ebb, as I assume many people have, but I'm not as low as I expected to be, which I guess is a good thing? I have made a birthday card this week, using some g45 papers from my stash. I've also been working on the stitch, which is something I can always fall back on when I'm not feeling creative.  You can probably guess who it is now! I'm working hard on this one cos I got one for Christmas I am desperate to do! Until next time Ems

When a plan doesnt come together, carry on.

The title is related to the project I have finished this week, but is very apt to life as well. Sometimes things do not go our way; despite how much effort we can put into something, the end result can be down to luck.  Before I get to the project, here is the update on the stitch.  Onto the project. I've had one of those birdhouses for ages, and wanted to do something with it. I had a clear plan in mind, started, and screwed it up entirely. The medium I was using wasn't right, the end result was muddy, and I ruined a load of vellum pieces by colouring them, as I thought the printed bit would show through. So, frustrated, I shoved it away.  I then got it back out, and rethought. It was already blue, so I decided to use some paste on the roof and windows. Still not right, so I added snow paste. It started to come together then, and I found some ephemera that worked with it. Here is the end result.  Completely different from my original plan, but it works. Just goes to show that
