Seed beads

Seed beads are a great little staple for jewellery makers. Aside from the obvious substitution for a chain, you can also make patterns with them. I've not got that far yet, but I've used seed beads for a necklace this week.  The multi connector charms are awesome for statement necklaces.  I've also been working on the stitch. Almost finished page 5.  Until next time Ems

Just a hop, skip and a jump

Before I get onto my main make of the week, here's the update on the stitch.  In the attempt to use things up a bit, I decided to make a seed bead necklace this week.  Now onto the card I made this week. I want to try and use the stamps I've got free with magazines, and I want to practice my colouring (I'm one of those that's greatest skill is staying between the lines, and that only 90% of the time!)  As you can see, there's a little tag in the bottom right corner. The original plan was to have a rabbit jump up, but they're in the wrong position to do this. I ended up using the cloud as movement, but again this had to be limited movement otherwise the cloud would tilt ridiculously! In the future, I know there are specific types of stamps or dies I can use for this. Sun and stars would be perfect for example. Anyway, below is a video showing how it works.   Until next time  Ems

The c word continues...

I've made more christmas cards this week, using a variety of things from my stash. I started off by using a snowflake embossing folder with distress oxide for the background. I then used two tonic dies and tonic paper for the sentiment. Finally, I used lawn fawn tiny birthday people to finish it off.    That was a lot of people to fussy cut! I've also finished page 4 of the stitch. Quarter of the way through!! Until next time Ems

Do you reckon i jinxed us?

Mention the c word in August, and suddenly the weather is getting rather wintry. I don't care, cos here comes another Christmas themed piece! This one is made with magazine freebies. I have loads of stamps that I got from magazines, which I don't use enough.  I also tried to practice with chameleon pens, but didn't use the blending side of them for some reason.  Progress on the stitch has been slow, cos I had to wait for a new floor stand. Still, it's coming along   Until next time Ems

Its august, you know what that means....

Christmas! OK for many, the dreaded c word being mentioned now is a capital offence, but for us crafters, planning for Christmas pieces begins now. So, with that in mind, here is my first Christmas related piece of the year.  So, this is almost wholly tim holtz stuff. Christmas ephemera and paper dolls, snowflake pieces, and a couple of dies. My favourite things are the snowglobes. I used clear plastic so that I could have them as separate pieces, rather than putting them on paper. Dies are coloured with chameleon pens.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here is the latest update.  Progress has been slow cos my frame is loose and cannot be tightened anymore, so I've had to hold it up, causing pain in my left shoulder. Luckily, I've managed to find a replacement, so that shouldn't be a problem soon. Until next time Ems
