March into spring!

Well it would be nice if we could, wouldn't it? Unfortunately it's still stormy as hell. As you can see, the scene is starting to come together, but I'll be working on this one all year I think.  I haven't really had chance to make anything this week, so I thought I'd share my resin experiments. I used sequins, glitter, small findings and some gold flakes, just to test what works. Here are the results.  The ones with the little sequin stars and hearts worked the best. Now all I have to do is decide what to do with them. Since its March, I will have a quick review of my resolutions. I managed to save 29% of my wages this month, only had one takeaway and hit 20k words. On the other hand, I did not donate to charity, had no no meat days, and my reading has slowed right down. So there are things I have to work on. Until next time Ems

London baby!

Sorry for the late Post, but I spent my birthday weekend in London. Thankfully that means my 20 pictures can be done in one Post! Before I get onto those, I have been crafting. First, here is the stitch. I've also made a couple of resin necklaces, using sparks paint to colour them and adding a shell charm and a pearl.  So now the London pics! I stayed in a lovely hotel called the Rembrandt, which is right opposite the Victoria and Albert museum.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Until next time Ems

Beads direct kit

I actually finished a beads direct kit that I bought ages ago this week. It's not perfect, and was probably the hardest one I've done so far, but I finished. I've got enough beads to make another one if I want to, but I'm not sure I do at the moment. I've also been working on the stitch this week, which is here.  I still think this one is going to take me all year. That's a conservative estimate. It'll be even more if I run out of threads.  Until next time  Ems

The month of love

For those who have someone special of course. For those that Don't, it doesn't mean you can't celebrate with those that do. I don't mean being a third wheel on Valentine's day! I've made a few things this week, with the idea of love in mind. Before that, here is the update on the cross stitch. I've also made a bracelet, using purple gems and pearls.  On the subject of love, I've made a congratulations card using tonic studios kit dies, from the latest kit and kit 21.  The other love themed item I made was a box. I started with a three compartment box from the works, adding some texture by stencils and die cut foam. I painted it black then coated it with vintage silk wax. I then added two Tim holtz frames painted black and coated with gold wax to the left and right boxes. I added paper dolls to those, and then some tiny tattered florals coated with distress oxide sprays. I finally managed to do the florals correctly! I tried them when I f

January-results are in!

I've done quite well so far this year resolution wise. I saved 35% of my wages, way above target, did more than 20 walks and weights, watched 6 new to me films, read and reviewed 2 non fiction books and 5 fictional ones, and had 2 no meat days. I also donated to 3 charities; 2 lots of money and 1 lot of books. I did have 2 takeaways, but I'm planning on having none this month. I also hit my writing target, which has not started well this month as my computer took 4 hours to update last night, so now I'm a day behind! The surfing mindlessly after 2020 hasn't been easy, but I have noticed it's helping my attention span.  I've made a couple of pairs of earrings this week, which don't count towards my unmade projects tally. Thus currently stands at 3/20.  I've also been working on the Christmas village stitch. Here's the progress.  It's coming together nicely now, but I think I'll be working on it for all or at least most of the yea
