Countdown to the c word

Its too early to mention the c word, especially with the news of another lockdown, but here we are. This week I have made a couple of christmas presents, and restarted my winter village cross stitch.  I've finished the half stitch now, and started the back stitching. This will take a while, as there is quite a lot in different colours, and the light is crappy now.  I've made two necklaces this week.  I've also finished the other stitch, so will finally post it on here.  Here are the last random pics of October.  Years of living here and ive finally realised this is an oak tree. To be fair, its the first year its sprouted acorns.  I love this type of house. Semi gothic.  Important right now I think.  A cake I resisted! Doesn't happen often.  Road was flooded yesterday. Expect to see that a lot now.  Ems

Colorize christmas

I've been digging into my stash this week, trying to keep up my vow to use the things I have, rather than look for new things. Its not that long till the dreaded c word (thats christmas not the dreaded c word of 2020) so I decided to do something with a festive bent. I started by painting a tim holtz frame gold, and then finding some paper for the background. I then cut out a bigz candle out of watercolour paper and used distress crayons to colour it. I die cut a colourize christmas banner. Again these take ages but they are worth it. Finally I added a sentiment and some sequins.  I'm on the final page of the stitch. Not long until the reveal!  Only one random photo this week. I saw this as i was walking to work.  Until next time  Ems

Buttons

I've been making jewellery this week. I got some buttons in a grab bag ages ago and didn't know what to do with them (I'm not a sewer and I don't really like pink) but I saw someone on Pinterest has used them to make earrings, so i decided to do the same.  I've also made some earrings using the donut beads, and a dream catcher necklace.  I'm now on page 8 of the cross stitch, which is the page I went monumentally wrong with, so im being very careful with it!  Here are the random pictures of this week. Not many, just a sunrise and a cloud that looks like a fish.  Until next time  Ems

A trip to the zoo

This week i haven't got a jewellery piece to share! I've finished that piece I was talking about a couple of weeks ago. I managed to get the tim holtz colorise dies for half price a while ago, so tried them out. Ive had the santa and snowman for a while, and ive only used santa once and frosty no times at all, but i wanted to use the animals. I used the bear, giraffe, and elephant. They are time consuming, and some bits are really fiddly, but totally worth it.  When I had made them, I needed to think about what to do with them. I dug out an old wooden cutlery drawer, lined it with green card, then used the lion king flectere dies and some nuvo dots to get some foliage. I also added some flowers, as well as a bee hive and bees for the bear.  I've also made some progress on the stitch.  I'm still trying to keep the theme a secret. I'm well on my way to finishing before Christmas, although I'm not sure i will finish my other one. I feel like I'm getting my crea

Day trip

First time I've been out of the county since February this week. Decided to spend a night in plymouth. Had to get the coach there, but national express are doing a good job reducing the risk of covid exposure. It was a good trip, although a little disconcerting being around so many people.  I've made a card this week, using a tonic frames die I got in a mystery bag. I wasn't sure how I wanted the final card, until I found my snarky sentiments. Add a paper doll and it worked out great. I also added some jewel drops to the champagne bubbles.  I've not done as much work on the stitch as I wanted to, because of being away.  Here are this weeks random photos, which include the view from the hotel room, the first squirrel ive seen in plymouth, and five guys milkshakes. Until next time Ems
