Seeing things from the flipside

Busy week this week. First of all, the stitch update.  I tried to do some resin coasters this week. I dutifully poured out the resin, waited for it to dry and it looked like....well this. Disappointed didn't begin to cover it. I was thinking about ways to fix them when I flipped them over...and they were great! All I needed to do was add some other colours and presto! Admittedly, the first attempt at waves didn't work as the white sank through the resin, but they still look good.  I've also made the second book nook, this one narnia themed. I painted the trees with blue, then weathered wood overplayed with white to get that crackle. The inside was painted white, sprayed lightly with blue oxide and then coated with sparkle mod podge. The lampposts were painted white, snow texture paste was added, and a die cut red scarf added to one, to represent Mr tumnus. The sweets are the Turkish delight offered to Edmund by the white witch, which are tim holtz confections coated in dist

Flutterbys

Been doing a few things this week. First, finished page 14 of the stitch. Two more to go! Still gotta figure out what to do about where I went wrong, but not till I've stitched the rest.  I've also made some earrings and bookmarks using blue beads and umbrella charms.  The hearts are my favourite.  Speaking of hearts, more resin work! This is purple sparkling resin for the base, silver for the background, and tim holtz transparent butterflies.  This worked really well. Looks like actual butterflies! Until next time Ems

Foolish mortals

A few things to show you this week. First, here's the update on the stitch.  Hopefully will finish this page next week.  Next, I've been experimenting with resin again, this time with bigger moulds.  Finally, I've made a haunted mansion themed card. For those who don't know, there was a feature called the hatbox ghost, which was taken out a week after the ride opened because the special effect didn't work. I made this using tim holtz paper, fireplace and pumpkinhead dies, and lawn fawns magic picture changer die on the inside.  Not bad for a first attempt!  Until next time Ems

Rainy days and mondays always get me down

Less talks more pics today. There's not that many pics either to be honest.  Here's the progress on the stitch. Slowed down this week cos I ripped a nail off.  I finally figured out how to use these wooden beads that have been in my damn stash forever! It's my pirates of the carribean kraken inspired necklace.  Birthday treat to myself was these rainy day bear stamps and platform pop up die, and I'm so glad I bought them! I can see the platform pop up die being used many times, amd hopefully it'll inspire me to use stamps I've not used before. The rainy days bears were coloured with chameleon pens, another great investment. Makes it so easy for someone who is not great at blending.  Until next time Ems

Beading

Half of the time I try to use up my stash, the rest of the time I'm buying more stuff and replenishing it, normally adding more than I started with! This will most likely change, with essential costs rising across the board.  Anyway, onto the makes. I bought some beads when I was in plymouth the other day, so decided to use some up.  I've also been working on the stitches, so here's the update on the supernatural stitch.  You can just see a face appearing, but still a long way to go.  Ems
