Altered notepad

First things first, here is this weeks decluttering items. A pair of green tights. Great looking on someone like Bernadette from Big Bang, but with someone with bigger legs like mine, they make me look like Kermit the frog. Bin.  A pair of orange tights. Same thing as above (except the frog part). To be honest I think I'm a little old for coloured tights. Bin.  A striped scarf. Never worn it, no idea where I got it. It's gone to a charity shop. Winter hat. I got this a couple of years ago as a christmas present but I've got a Kermit the Frog hat and gloves (sometimes I do like to look like Kermit!) so this one has gone to a charity shop.  A trilby. Another present, but unfortunately it does not suit me, so I've taken it to a charity shop.  A wooden toy. Got one as a present, it didn't work so we took it back and I added the extra money to get this one. It's nice, but I don't need it. I don't have room to put everything up

No I'm not that stupid!

The title refers to this weeks decluttering, as the first two items are credit cards. Cut up and put in the bin, I have not used them for years now, and don't intend to. As far as I'm concerned, if I can't afford it I'm not buying it. I obviously didn't take pictures beforehand, as I would just invite fraudsters. The other items this week are: A dreamcatcher I got from the Isle of Wight. I loved it, but unfortunately in twisting it around I snapped it and rendered it useless. In the bin. A gypsy skirt. Not worn for a year or so and I prefer the 50's style ones now, so it's off to the charity shop. A lace top. I don't think it suits me, so it's going to the charity shop. A London T shirt. Never worn, don't really like the boxy shape, so to the charity shop it goes. A blue lace top. I've had a bit of wear from this over the years but it's size 6, and I am most definitely not. To the charity shop it goes! Next ite

I've run out of shrink plastic!!!

I had today and Thursday off this week, and when it came to Thursday I was feeling decidely unproductive, so much so I was worried the only thing on the blog this week would be my decluttering. Thankfully, today I have more than made up for it. Let's get the decluttering out of the way first though. This weeks items are:  A pair of old Disney christmas socks. The furry parts on the top are a little tight on my fankles now. In the bin. A load of craft magazines. I tend to get all the tips I need online now, so I didn't need these anymore. Binned. (bin can mean recycling by the way) A belt. As you can see from the picture below it has started peeling, and it can't be fixed. Bin. Ah the bane of my existence - the glittery sock! Why do I insist on buying stuff like this?  Bin Grey fluffy socks. Past their best, they have lost their elasticity and bring to mind my childhood nickname of Nora Batty. Bin Christmas socks. Good god these a

Captains of industry

For some reason the blog wasn't allowing me to write after putting pictures in, so I have had to do two posts, one for decluttering, one for crafting. I started off by painting a canvas with black gesso, then die cutting some gears from the gearz bigz die, and glueing them onto the side of the canvas. I used texture paste on the gears, then painted them black, before dry brushing the whole piece with silver distress paint. I added extra gears that were painted silver with some distress embossing powder added, attached by foam pads to give dimension. I then cut out a piece of Tim Holtz french industrial paper, before tearing the edge nearest the gears. I used sprays to colour it as well as white stain to lighten it a little, and inked the edges before glueing it onto the canvas. When it was dry, I picked a found relatives picture and used the image transfer technique to transfer it onto the canvas. One tip here is to use water to dampen the back by dipping your finger in the water
