cross stitch crazy

I have been on a low creatively this week, so I thought I would share the mini stitches I have been making. Royal horticultural society has a 12 month pack of mini stitches, each marking the flower of the month. Obviously, I am halfway through.  They are backwards, so top one is June, bottom is January. It has been a while since I have done back stitch. Also, you forget how hard a small stitch can be! Back to the bigger stitch, here is the update  With any luck, I will be finished before the end of October.  until next time  Ems

Hot!

Hottest week of the year (so far at least) and what do I do? Finish making this year's Christmas cards! I have gone for a vintage feel this year. I started by embossing cardstock with woodgrain and spraying it with Lindy sprays.  I then stamped Tim Holtz christmas scene stamps in sepia. I used tonic drops to make nails in the corners of the woodgrain. Finally, I made ribbons and holly leaves with the colorize dies.  I have been working on the stitch. Here is the update. Still a good few months before this is done.  Until next time Ems

time waits for no one

My younger brother got me some crafty stuff for my birthday earlier this year, so I pulled somethjng out of there to work on.  I had a bunch of resin pieces in my stash, so I found a phoenix and 11 bulbs for the numbers, and glued them on the edges. I used gold wax all over, then patina on the resin pieces. I added a few clear stones and some numbers. Finally, I used glow paste through a stencil in the centre. I have also been working on the stitch. Here is the update. Until next time Ems

im a star man

Quick one this week. First, here is the stitch update.  I have all the spare skein i need now, so I can just get on with it. I wish I could stitch more a day than I do, but my back would not thank me for that! I tried to make a pair of star earrings. its my first try, and the end thread is still visible as I need to glue it.  until next time  Ems

necklace and earring sets

I struggled to think of something to make this week, but eventually managed to make a couple of necklace and earring sets. I like the branches. The little flowers work really well here.  Still on the flower motif. I was trying to link bees, flowers and honey.  I have also been working on the stitch.  Still a long way to go. Luckily I had spare of most colours, but I have had to order 3. Until next time Ems

slide n surprise die

Before I get onto this weeks make, here is the cross stitch update.  I have made a card this week, using the lawn fawn slide news surprise die. This is for my younger brother, do if you are reading this, stop reading and go away! Is he gone? Good. A little while ago he showed me this video of a street performer, who at the end of the skit, says, exactly, orange! If you know, you know, if not, look it up on YouTube. Anyway, i wanted to do a card inspired by that.  So, a nice cute little rabbit in a hat, completely with magic wand, I deliberately kept things plain.  When you slide it up, oranges galore!  Until next time Ems

dirty pours

I have worked with resin this week, using mica flakes and dirty pours.  I added some clear butterfly stickers to this one, for the clearer half.  I have also been working on the stitch.  Until next time Ems

why is the rum.always gone?

I finally finished my bigger piece! My younger brother got me some crafty things for my birthday, and one of the things was a key holder to alter. I covered it with tim holtz colorize woodgrain planks, using nuvo drops to make the nails. I did a sparrow, heart, and skull and cross bones from air dry clay, using gold leaf to coat the skull amd cross bones. There is a telescope, a skull, rum bottles, and a ships wheel on the table. There's also PlayStation figures of jack and barbossa.  the top has a netting, which is jewellery netting, with shells and also some tentacles.  I also made a necklace, from a totally beads pattern but using my own stash. Finally, here is the stitch update. Until next time Ems

forever delayed

I still haven't finished my bigger piece! I really should have, but i didn't feel like working on it this week. I have done a few things though. First, the stitch update. I have also made a pair of earrings.  Finally, I went back to my spellbinders advent calendar to make this card.  Until next time Ems

Puns

I love puns, so when I saw the toast die in the spellbinders advent calendar, I couldn't resist.  Simple but effective.  I have also been working on the stitch.  I have decided not to stitch the white now, so that'll save me about two months of stitching.  I am aware I promised a bigger project, but its not done yet.  until next time Ems

bracelets

Quick one this week. I haven't finished my bigger piece, so I have made a couple of bracelets.  Here is the update on the stitch.  Still loads to go! until next time Ems

Spellbinders advent calendar

No, im not talking about the dreaded c word, even i know its too early for that! I got 2 spellbinders advent calendars last year (2024 and 2025) so I have been trying to use what I received. I actually preferred these to the lawn fawn grab bags last year, so if im gonna have to choose between then this year, I'll be picking the calendar.  This week I have made a birthday card, sticking to a simple but elegant design. I also used tonic drops.  Here is the stitch update. I have been contemplating not  doing the white border, because it didn't really make a difference to the mummy stitch, and it would save me about two months of stitching until I can start on the next one.  Until next time Ems

mix and match

I saw a great card made using the spellbinders advent calendar, so decided to add a tim holt window to add my own spin to it.  if you can see Animal from the muppets in the background, it was the only brick wall paper i had! heres the update on the stitch. massive shortfall of 1800 stitches on this colour.  until next time ems

Honk honk!

One of the things in my lawn fawn box was a geese stamp set. I wasn't quite sure what to do with it, but im trying to use everything ive got rather than buy new things, so I thought i would give it a go. I saw the semtiment honk if its your birthday, so decided to use that two-fold. I used a tim holtz christmas die to make a car, then added the geese as the occupants. i had to do the car backwards because of the way the geese face. the background trees are also a tim holtz die. I've also been working on the stitch.  until next time Ems
