Remembering

I've not had a great year so far so I'm scrapping my new years resolution and concentrating on sorting myself out instead. Sometimes you've got to just focus on trying to make yourself better. Anyway onto the makes. First of all, here is the update on the stitch. I decided to do the back stitch on the first page cos the pattern page is really tatty so I can get rid once I'm done. I've also made a card. I started off by die cutting the stained glass window tonic studios die. I coloured the pieces and glossy accented the flowers. I then used the lumber embossing folder which is amazing. Finally my uncle asked me to do something for his grandson, as he is missing his nan. I started by glueing resin hearts, grungeboard letters and wooden butterflies and stars to a slate heart. I then covered it in black gesso then added red wax using a brush to make sure it was all coated. I used my finger to add gold wax in certain places, then added some polaris honey beads. ...

Odds and sods

Made a few things this week. To start, here is the update on the stitch. Is it me or is that little elephant looking really wrinkly? Not sure they've got the pattern quite right there.  I've also made a simple beaded necklace, using green and clear beads. Finally I used a vignette panel for a mixed media piece. I started by glueing a bee and a rose to a mini picture frame, then choosing a picture for it. I coated the picture in crackle paste then added glossy accents which ended up healing the cracks! Thankfully I used a small layer of crackle accents over the top. I then used white crackle paste mixed with sparks paint on the panel, putting the picture frame in the centre and adding ephemera roses and a phrase.  Ems

Animals

Full weeks work this week so I've not been up to much. First here is the update on the stitch. As you can see there's finally some substantial progress! You can only see part of it here but all three elephants are pretty much done. I'm doing it by colour at the moment as I find that easier. I've also made a card this week, using geo springtime dies. I started off by die cutting each one from gold before glueing galaxy paper to the back and cutting it out. I then cut some papers, including some Tim holtz ones, edged it with distress crayons then assembled it. Until next time Ems

Come fly with me....to the stars

Mentally and physically I feel a bit shit at the moment. I have managed to make a few things though, which is progress. To start with, the progress on the stitch. I've also made a birthday card for a colleague. I used some galaxy themed papers and stamps with some silver mirror card and embossing powder for this one. It was a bit difficult to take a photo in the Tim light we have had recently but I did my best. The next piece I was more pleased with. I almost felt more like myself creatively when I was making it. I started off by cutting a tag out of some nature paper before coating it in crackle glaze and colouring with distress crayons. I then painted some calico craft parts with sparks paint. One was a frame so I chose some paper for a background, colouring it with vintage matte medium. I added a sentiment and then found some tiny paper dolls and added transparent wings to them. I've ordered a few new things this week and I'm off after next Frid...

Springs gone again!

Glorious weather last week, and today it's back to heavy rain and gale force wind. Wish this was a day I could stay inside! Anyway, onto the crafts. Here is the update on the cross stitch. It's funny cos when you're stitching it doesn't look like much progress but take a picture and it does. Long way to go still. I'm still feeling out of sorts at the moment so not much done in the way of crafting. I did manage to make a card though, using a visible image stencil, script stamp and daffodils die from magazines, and Tim holtz tattered rectangular die as well as distress oxides.  The oxides blend beautifully, much easier than the distress inks do. I can see used for both as they do work differently. Until next time Ems
