Feathers

I've made a few things this week. Weirdly I've been feeling surprisingly creative. Long may it last!  These connectors reminded me of peacock feathers, so I added beads reflecting that and turned them into earrings.  I've done multi connector charms with beads, but never with a focal point in the middle.  This was my attempt at something I saw on Pinterest. I'm not great at wire wrapping yet, but its a start.  Here was a card, with more practice at blending. This is a galaxy background, with lawn fawn upon a star foxes coloured with spectrum noir pens, and a distress oxide tim holtz moon.  Here's the update on the stitch.  Until next time Ems

Feeling blue

I've made a card this week using lawn fawn stamps. Before I get onto that, here is the update on the stitch.  It's getting there! So is the secret stitch, which is over a third of the way done now.  Onto the card. I grabbed a bargain bundle of lawn fawn stamps and dies off ebay, and the you're clawsome set spoke to me.  This was one of my first blending attempts that worked well. Here's an example of a boy card, but its very easy to swap out a few things to make a girl card as well. I didn't make this with anyone in mind, but there's a few people I know who have had babies recently, so it got me thinking about a different kind of card to one I would usually do. Its one of those 'this set has given me an idea so I'm going to make it despite having no recipient!'I'm going to try and use each of the sets I bought soon, to try and work on my colouring.  Until next time Ems

Poor unfortunate souls!

This week I've turned a failure into a success? I guess the success part depends what people think of the finished piece. I'll start with the failure.  As you can see, this is a resin piece, but that the resin was old so it went cloudy. I was going to throw it away, when it reminded me of something... So, I decided to try and use the orb for an ursula themed set of mini drawers. I used stamperia steampunk octopus moulds for the tentacles, and tried to mould a plinth for the orb myself, out of paper clay. Once dry, I painted it all with black gesso, then painted the tentacles with purple and white shimmer paint, as well as painting the drawer fronts purple, and the drawer knobs gold.  I also put a little something in one of the drawers.  A mermaids tail and the shell ursula kept Ariels voice in! Looks like ariel didn't triumph in this version.... I've also been working on the stitches. One third complete on the secret stitch, and here is the progress on the other one....

Glittery skulls!

I've had my annual reorganise this week craft wise, and yet again realised just how much I have! I can't say I won't buy more, but at least I've got everything organised! This week I've made a necklace, using a purple resin glitter skull I made a while ago. The lights not great, but the purple glitter really shines when it is! I've also been working on the stitches. Here's the update on the one I can post.  There's a lot of red in this page! Until next time Ems

New year new me...ah who am i kidding

Certainly not me. I try new years resolutions every year, but have failed on the past few years. This year I'm not making resolutions per se, but using tiny habits and celebrating achievements, no matter how small. Belittling my achievements has made me give up in the past, thinking there is no point continuing when there has been no progress. I'm hoping this new approach works for me.   Enough of that, onto the makes. I've finally made that project I've been working on for a few weeks.  It's an advent calendar! Yes I know, bit late now. I've had this for a while, so I put it together, and then used paper in my stash to decorate the doors, outsides and the insides. I used tonic glitter drops around the doors and around the edges of the box to hide where the paper edges were, and gold tonic drops on the doors for decoration. I added numbers, then looked at the top. I wanted to do something different, so I made a village dwelling, and then added a bear. I then add...
