A stitch in time saves nine....

Weird thing is, I don't feel like I have done much this week, but I have a fair amount to show. Top of the list is the safari stitch, which is finally done!

Awesome isn't it? I've also started working on a new stitch, and made a fair amount of progress already. It might be finished before Christmas.

As you can see, there is a Christmas theme with this one. It's only a small one but that is not the reason I chose it. Well, maybe one of the reasons.

I've also made a couple of things. The first is a printer tray. This is from Calico Craft Parts. I assembled it then painted it. I'm not completely happy with the painting, but painting is not one of my strong areas. After I had painted it I added a sentiment, some alcohol ink painted pearls and some pine cones.

Sorry about the poor lighting. Bugger about this time of year is that it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. Maybe I need to read up on how to take good pictures in low light.

My last item is another Calico Crafts piece. This is a Victorian box. I used ice themed paper to cover it as well as paints, before assembling the piece. It is not easy to line up the top and bottom parts let me tell you! I think I might assemble the next one before painting it. Anyway, the inside is brown paper and the outside is the ice themed. Once assembled, I dug out some mini Tim Holtz trees which I coated with blue spray. I then coated these with white crackle paint. I did this first before the blue spray had dried so that the first layer was tinged with blue, then again when it was dry. I coated the base with silver wax. I also added some crystallised beads to the outside. Finally, I added a blue pinwheel and tied the hinge with some blue twine.

I thought this is a perfect wintry but not Christmas themed piece.

Until next time,
Ems

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
