Winged keys

I saw a post on the Tim holtz addict page on Facebook earlier this week, and decided to make my own version. These are obviously based on Harry potter, that iconic scene where Harry is on a broomstick chasing the key with the broken wing. The keys are paper clay, painted black and then coloured with wax. The wings are Tim holtz transparent wings that have been coated with tonic glimmer paste.

I deliberately left the keys a little bent to add some authenticity. They are supposed to be old keys for a castle after all!

Aside from that, I haven't done much this week. It's been a low week, which means I haven't felt the pleasure I usually feel in creating something. I've not done nothing though; I've got a project in mind at the moment so I've been preparing pieces for that. Here's a teaser.

At least I've been using up some of my stash again!
I've nearly finished my cross stitch, in fact I hope to finish it today. The only thing to do now is the snow French knots.

I can't promise there will be more on here next time. It's the long week at work, and so far I still do not feel creatively inclined. That may change though, and I have a week off after that so there should be plenty then!
Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
