Merry post christmas everybody!

Well I think this is the first year I didn't get anything crafty for Christmas for a long time! I did splurge at countryviewcrafts.co.uk though. As well as the dies I got the other day, here is my haul from there.  Now I've got to figure out what to do with them! Crafting has been slow this week, what with Christmas prep and managing to do my back in for the second time this year, but I've made two pairs of earrings and worked on both stitches.  And yes I'm still working on the Christmas themed project. By the time I finish it'll be next Christmas! Until next time Ems

Fairytales

I've made some jewellery this week (shocker I know).  This was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest, with a few changes.   This one is the reason for this weeks title. I took apart some old jewellery a couple of weeks ago, including this pendant charm. I added a toadstool charm in the middle, then some drop beads along the chain. Finally, here's where I'm at with the stitch.  Until next time Ems

Battling the negative

It's not been a good week for me mental health wise. I'm torn between being open about it, and wanting to stick to positivity when it comes to my crafting side. I did promise earlier this year that I would try to be positive when it came to my makes, so instead of lamenting the fact I did little in the way of crafting this week and some of what I did make went completely wrong, I will celebrate what went right.  First of all, it's December which means advent time at countryviewcrafts.co.uk! So far I've bought in three days, and here are my goodies.  Crackle glazes, glow in the dark paint and quick cure clay. Interestingly enough, it's not air dry, but dries with a heat gun.  Best time of year to get colorize dies! They don't tend to go down in price much in the uk, so when they do I snap them up!  Onto the makes. I've actually already finished the 2nd page of the secret stitch, but obviously I can't share it! Here's the update on the not so secret on...

Floral earrings

Just a quick one this week. I would have had resin work to post buy my resin has reached the six month expiry limit, so it was all cloudy. Annoying because I used all my jellyfish in it. Lesson learned! I've made some earrings this week, using multi connector charms and flower beads   I've also been working on the stitch. Here is the update.  Until next time Ems

Chandeliers

This week I've made some fancy chandelier earrings, using multi connector charms and teardrop beads. I thought the chain added something to the design, improving it from just beads.  I've also made a birthday card, using tonic papers and tim holtz dies. The funky foliage flowers are great, easy to use and if you cut three colours, you can easily mix and match.  Finally, here's the update on the stitch. Can I just say how frustrating it is alternating between two, but not being able to put one on here! Until next time Ems

Its beginning to look a lot like christmas

This week I've finally finished a project. Now, if you've read any of my posts in the past, you're aware that I like making things. I would love nothing more than to gift the things I make, but there's always that thought in the back of my mind that what I make is not good enough, and won't be appreciated. Some don't realise the hours it takes to make a card, let alone something bigger. Still, at Christmas, I do make things for people, as I find it gets me into the spirit of the season. Before I go onto my makes, here's the update on the latest stitch. Another page down! Seven to go now.  Onto the Christmas makes!  These have been made with tonic studios sleigh die, black card, tonic specialty card, galaxy card and wax.  These are wire wrapped earrings which I made from a totally beads kit So the earrings are in the red pouch, and I've also included some Christmas themed chocolates, maltesers hot chocolate sachets and mini marshmallows.  And here's a...

More resin work

This week, I've made some more jewellery incorporating the resin I made a couple of weeks ago. I tried to keep things simple, so that the resin is the focal piece.  I've also made a card, my first ever baby card, which is for a colleague. I used galaxy card, clouds and stars. I also added gold thread behind the clouds, so that it is reminiscent of a mobile. I was going to put congratulations as a sentiment buy it was too long, so I put welcome baby instead.  Finally, I've been stitching as usual. Finished first page of secret stitch, and here is where I'm at on the not so secret stitch.  Until next time Ems

Statement necklaces

This week I've made some necklaces with the resin pieces i made last week. I used large multi connector charms, and some leaf charms.  I've also made a birthday card, using metallic card, a tonic studios die, a paper doll and a snarky talk sticker.  Finally, here is the update on the stitch. It's slow going, partly cos I'm alternating days with the other stitch, and partly cos I'm old and wrenched my shoulder this week.  Until next time  Ems

Resin

I have a love hate relationship with resin. When it works, it's great, but when it doesn't its a waste of hours of work, as you can't really salvage it. Still, this week I wanted to try layering a bit. I've learned from this that glitter is awesome in resin, but that blue alcohol ink turns purple for some reason. Here's some of my makes. You can also put pretty much anything in resin, which is quite cool.  I've also been working on the stitch. Slow progress, as I'm alternating days with the secret one.  Look, arms! Hopefully next week there will be some makes. Ems

Sweets for the sweet

I've been pinteresting this week (is that would we call it?) and I've made a few things inspired by posts I found.  These were made using flower beads and crackle beads. I was only going to do one sweet per earring but for some reason I used eye pins instead of head pins! I think it looks better with two sweets anyway.  This was inspired by a pandahall make. I used different style beads entirely, and I think it makes it quite vintage looking.  I've also been working on the stitch. I'm halfway through now! There will be a slow down in progress with this though, cos I will be simultaneously working on a secret project that I cannot post on here.  Until next time Ems
