New year new me...ah who am i kidding

Certainly not me. I try new years resolutions every year, but have failed on the past few years. This year I'm not making resolutions per se, but using tiny habits and celebrating achievements, no matter how small. Belittling my achievements has made me give up in the past, thinking there is no point continuing when there has been no progress. I'm hoping this new approach works for me.

Enough of that, onto the makes. I've finally made that project I've been working on for a few weeks.

It's an advent calendar! Yes I know, bit late now. I've had this for a while, so I put it together, and then used paper in my stash to decorate the doors, outsides and the insides. I used tonic glitter drops around the doors and around the edges of the box to hide where the paper edges were, and gold tonic drops on the doors for decoration. I added numbers, then looked at the top. I wanted to do something different, so I made a village dwelling, and then added a bear. I then added a snip art piece at the back. If you look closely, there is a 25 on that with an arrow pointed to the retro oven, which is a surprise 25th box! I figure you can put chocolates into boxes 1 to 24, then something special for Christmas day. All dies are tim holtz.

I've also been working on the stitch, here is the latest update.

Until next time

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
