Book nook

Picture heavy post this week. Before the main feature, here's the update on the stitch.

Now onto the main event. I bought some book nook kits from craft box, and they arrived the other day so I got cracking! I bought three, and did the village one first.

Part one was to add brickwork, by using an old tim holtz brick wall strip die out of foam, adding it to the house front, then painting it to make it look like brickwork, which utilised paints and antiquing fluid, and then painting and glossing the doors and windows.

Same thing here, with different coloured brickwork. Also the roof is again foam and a tim holtz die.

I decided to use minimal brickwork here, and instead use concrete texture paste.

This is the pavement and road. I used the negative space from the brickwork for the road, and also concrete for the pavement. You'll notice some greens in there, which I think add to it.

Here's the finished piece. You'll notice a sign and lantern, which were just painted and waxed.

Until next time

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
