Stitching of a different kind

Not done much this week to be honest, as I spent an enjoyable weekend up in Plymouth watching Sarah Millican. I tried a new technique (for me anyway) to make some earrings, which was beadworking. They are only simple ones, and there is a mistake on one pair, but for a first try it is not bad.

I liked the technique so much that I ended up buying some books so that I can learn more. Hopefully this means that I will be able to make a dent in my bead stash, even if buying something more to lessen the amount of things I have is a bit of a paradox.

As well as this, I have of course been working on my cross stitch. Here is the latest.

I'm hoping to get it finished by August, so that I can get the other one done by the end of the year.
Sorry for the short post today, but I am absolutely knackered after this weekend, almost to the point of falling asleep whilst I am typing this. I have an idea for a piece that I will be working on this week, so hopefully next weeks will be a little bit chipper and have more content than this one.

Till next time

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
