One down, one to go.

I've finished the photo stitch!....and started the next one. I'll start with the progress on the new one.

It's a little difficult to see due to the lighting underneath, but it's a fair amount of progress so far. Thankfully there are less pages on this one, which means i should be able to finish it in a shorter time...theoretically anyway.

I also used an old tobacco tin to make a Disney themed Christmas piece this week. I started by painting it black and rubbing with gold wax. I edged the side with snow texture paste, adding two layers so it looked almost like a snow drift. The inside background is a Tim Holtz Christmas paper. Aside from the poinsettia which was white and inked with alcohol ink and the sentiment which is Tim Holtz, everything else is Disney. There are three dies used in total; the decorations were cut in gold mirror paper, and i used two rows of these, using the spares to make gift tags for the presents, which are Tim Holtz paper. I decided to go Steamboat Mickey for the main piece, but use colour on the gifts he is carrying to make it stand out.

I also made a wedding card for my cousin, who is getting married next month. i mixed snow texture paste with blue mica powder and put it through a woodgrain stencil for the background, then die cut hearts in white and powder blue. I stamped a few sentiments in powder blue on the white hearts, and then grabbed some blue and white flowers and bows from my stash. Finally, i added gem stones in L and E. I have added two sentiments to the inside, as together they work well.

Last but by no means least, the finished stitch! Ta-da!

Until next time,

Ems

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
