A quick non crafty post

I'm working on a few projects at the moment but none are near completion so I can't divulge as of yet. So instead, I thought I'd update my spending for now, and show you what I bought with my first treat (few crafty things in there so it's kind of crafty!)

I got paid on 27th, and the first thing I did was buy two bus tickets to Plymouth for £18.20. I also bought some french dressing, 15 eggs, diced turkey breast, basics feta, food bags, tortillas and red onions for £10.06

On the 28th I bought a toast 'n' egg. For those who don't know what this is, it's a toaster with an egg boiler attached. Makes the perfect boiled eggs. Costs about £40 usually, but I got it for £24.76 due to some discounts and vouchers. Always worthwhile to shop around. It's also worthwhile to keep the receipt, as I got it home and the bloody thing didn't work! A replacement is on it's way.

On the 29th I got some Ariel 3 in 1 tabs (£7), some Comfort freshener (£1.50) and a reduced loaf of bread (69p)

You don't wanna hear about that though! Monday was Plymouth day. I gave my mum £100 to spend, and bought a nice haul of things for myself.

First stop Hobbycraft!

A couple of essentials. The Gesso was £8.50 and the alcohol blending solution was £4.50

Chalkboard paint. I've got a few ideas for this already! £2

Game Spinners £4.50

Butterfly Frenzy die £14.50. I've wanted this for a while

Caged bird die £7.50. The weird thing is in the Hobbycraft in Plymouth they have all the dies locked away. Seems stealing them is a very lucrative business. Shame on you!

I also got a decopatch brush £1, a Docraft mag £4.99 with three free gifts.

After there we went to Boot's to get our eyes tested. They do a really thorough job. So thorough it was past one when we finished so we went to Maccy D's and got two big tasty meals £11.78

Went to Body Shop after that. Got some tea tree oil and some tea tree body wash for £10.

Apparently this is really good for spots on your back. Since I've started working out my skin has got worse so I thought I'd try this rather than stop exercising!

Since I have a publisher to find, I got the following book from Waterstones, at a cost of £19.99

I've only had a quick flick through but I wish I'd bought it before. As well as lists of publishers it has tons of advice for us fledgling novellists.

Quick stop at Costa for a hot choc and a passionfruit and mango smoothie (£5.95) before heading to Primark. I got some underwear (which I'm not gonna put on here!) some new Pj's and a lovely bag for Summer for her birthday

Total spend in Primark was £39.40

Finally I went to the Works. This is a good place to find some cheap craft stuff!

The eagle eyed of you will spot that I went slightly over my £150 budget but mum gave me the couple of quid extra so it was ok. I think treats in future will be cheaper as this was not part of my normal wages. It was nice to be able to get some things without the guilt.

Yesterday the rent was due , £406.16, and today I went to Glasses Direct and got two pairs of glasses for £56.50 (below my budget of £80) They have a deal at the moment that runs until Tuesday, so if you need glasses head on over there!

Anyway that's it for now. I'm off next week so that means plenty of crafting, which means blog posts!

  1. Coooo ... what a busy girl you've been! And ... what a busy girl you're going to be- with all these new suppliies!

I'm so glad that you've found that The Works are a great place to buy crafty goodies. I use them all the time - I would especially recommend their double sided tape. It's BRILLIANT. As sticky as any other tape and ... what's even better, is that it will tear for you. So you don't always have to juggle with scissors when you want to end a line of tape. Their stuff just tears easily for you, and what's even better is that it's just a £1 for a large roll. Check it out Ems. (I buy two rolls every time I go, or order on-line. I have a little stock of them now, but I'll cry if ever they stop doing it!)

Looking forward to seeing your crafty projects.

I've been a bit quiet on my blog for a couple of weeks or so, but I have been crafting. Life (and carpy stuff) has got in the way. I have got a project that I especially wanted to post to share with you, yourself. I took an idea from pinterest and tried it to see if it would work ... and it does! BRILLIANTLY. Far better than I ever dreamed it would. And all the time I was doing it, I was thinking "Ems will love this one if it works". So I'm dying to show it to you.

In the meantime ... sending crafty hugs and good crafting wishes ~ Cobs. x

If you leave me now...

A colleague left this week, ready to start her police office training, so I made a funny card for her. I found the definition on Pinterest, then decided to do my own line up for the inside.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the update. Not as much done this week cos of Christmas.  Until next year,  Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta

Altering again!

My craft mojo came back! I decided to treat myself the other day to a new paper pad, and chose G45 Steampunk Spells. Graphic 45 papers are expensive but boy are they worth it! I wish I'd got into them sooner as there are some older pads that are gorgeous, but unavailable now. Anyway, once I got the pad and overcame the urge to just admire the paper and do nothing with it, I got to work. I decided to try to make something to enter into a couple of challenges, namely the  Craft room something old, something new challenge  and  That's Crafty! Girl power challenge . The first thing to do was to decide what to make. I was going to do a card, but then I found this: This was a cutlery drawer that a friend gave me. To be honest I have been using it to store sharpies in, but no more. Here it is now: What a change! I started by painting it in black acrylic, then got to work on each section. I used the Clockworks paper for the background, cut out some clocks fro
