Exciting times!!!

For those of you who read this blog, you will be aware that I had an unsuccessful campaign with Britains next bestsellers. I decided recently to self publish my book Lonely As A Cloud, and I'm happy to say that as of last Sunday it was published on Amazon!!!!

Unfortunately I drowned my old laptop in Dr Pepper the other day, so have had to buy a new one, at the cost of £199.99. There is also another £200 in limbo due to a Paypal mistake. It hasn't been spent, but I can't get it back yet. Basically I tried to order the laptop online, paypal sent the funds but Argos failed to acknowledge the order. So until they reject it, or it expires, my money is stuck. In a way it is good as I won't be spending it! I paid the rent and bought four copies of my book (I'm not weird, only one is for me!) at £35.96. I also bought ten bookmark blanks at £2.49, which brings me to today's post.

The four books I bought are for specific reasons. One to a competition winner who has had to wait far too long for her book, one for the lovely woman who designed my cover, one for me and one to giveaway. So I'm giving away one signed copy of my book to a lucky winner, and three of these (see below) to runners up. So here is what "these" are.

That's right - mini bookmarks, with a Lonely as a Cloud book charm!!! These were made with eyepins. Beads were added to them and they were attached to the bookmark charm. The books themselves were printed out, backed onto black card to create a spine, then scrap paper was added to the middle until it resembled a book, another eye pin was added (before gluing with glossy accents) and it was then attached to the other side of the beaded eye pin.

So, to enter, all you have to do is comment, either here or on Facebook. Competition closes on 14th September.

Good luck, and please wish me luck too!

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Altering again!

My craft mojo came back! I decided to treat myself the other day to a new paper pad, and chose G45 Steampunk Spells. Graphic 45 papers are expensive but boy are they worth it! I wish I'd got into them sooner as there are some older pads that are gorgeous, but unavailable now. Anyway, once I got the pad and overcame the urge to just admire the paper and do nothing with it, I got to work. I decided to try to make something to enter into a couple of challenges, namely the  Craft room something old, something new challenge  and  That's Crafty! Girl power challenge . The first thing to do was to decide what to make. I was going to do a card, but then I found this: This was a cutlery drawer that a friend gave me. To be honest I have been using it to store sharpies in, but no more. Here it is now: What a change! I started by painting it in black acrylic, then got to work on each section. I used the Clockworks paper for the background, cut out some cloc...

Carry on my wayward son

So get this, yesterday was the 20th anniversary of supernatural starting, so this week I've decided to make something supernatural themed. I had some 3d resin printed figures of sam, dean, castiel, bobby and crowley that I bought on etsy, and some gumball machines I got from vinted. I don't know why, I've always wanted to alter a gumball machine! I painted everything with black gesso, and used prima art stones to give the machine some texture. I also added some chain links to the top.  I then used silver wax on the machine and figures. I used a cardboard disc covered in cheesecloth so I could glue sam and dean on the inside, and added castiel to the top, and bobby and crowley at the bottom. Finally, I added a lamp on the inside and some skulls where the gumballs usually come out.  I love this so much! And amazingly I got over 1000 likes on fb for it. I'd love to do a pirates one if  could find some decent figures.  I've also been working on the stitch, about 10 days...
