Making cards

You can probably guess by the title of this post what I have been making. Two cards this week. The first is a birthday card, and Mr Holtz had the perfect sentiment for the inside.

For the outside, I decided to go for a cross between dapper and steampunk. To start with I cut out some black card, and edged it with fire ruby wax. I then made my own background, by inking plain card and using some stamps and stencils and brown ink. I then stamped a bowler hat and a moustache, coloured them in, and used Glossy Accents on them. Now the strange thing is I coloured the bowler hat with grey pens, but for some reason it ended up a delicate red! Still, it goes well with the colour scheme. I also die-cut a pair of glasses out of black card, using fire ruby wax on them. I added some snip art cogs coloured with gold and silver wax, a clock with fire ruby mixed with silver, and finally I stamped a sentiment, die cutting 60th on there.

The second card is for father's day, and I went to my Muppet collection for that.

The only other things I used were some stamps for sentiments, and also a die cut of a coffee cup I now have, although you can see I used Muppets stamps on that.

Finally, here is the update on the stitch.

Over halfway through now!

Until next time.

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
