Odds and sods

I've been working on a few things this week. First of all, I dug through some of the items I got in my last Beads direct grab bag (so many beads) and found a few things, which gave me an idea to make a bracelet based on a bunch of grapes, as they are on the vine.

It doesn't photograph that well, but it looks lovely in real life. The purple pearls are perfect, as are the ceramic leaves.

I've also been trying out my new candy machine die. This is a Sue Wilson kinetics one. I was dubious that it would work, but it really does! The only thing I would suggest is to use smaller sweets than M & M's.

Obviously you would decorate the outside as well, but for now I just wanted to test if it worked.

I've been working on the cross stitch as well. Here is the update so far.

Finally, I dug into the craft boxes I have received recently and made a tag. I started off by gluing some circles on a wooden tag, then added crackle paste, before spraying it with a pink Lindy's spray. Then I realised that the circles looked like nipples, so I added a few more colours, using more sprays, distress ink and a bit of wax, as well as come mini art stones that I added with some copper paint, and some frosted gilt flakes. Once I was happy with the background I chose my embellishments.

I kept it relatively simple. The cogs are snip art ones that are covered with rust past. The feather and saying are also snip art, but with embossing powder on them (the feather using a gradient). The flower and jewel at the bottom are from the vintage box, and the bird is from an earlier box. It was originally pink, but I carefully painted it with black gesso before using wax to give it a rose colour.

It was nice digging out some stuff that I have not used for ages, such as the rust paste which I have only used once before now.

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
