Another challenge

Just a quick one to start with, as it's another entrant into the that's crafty bright challenge. It's another double sided tag, one with two different themes that are connected.

Side one started by using texture paste on the tag, then painting black, then with metallique paint and vintage gold wax. After that I die cut some gears, painting them silver and adding rust. I then fussy cut some G45 papers, die cut some flowers and foliage, and arranged them on the tag. The light bulb is a prima one, coated with crackle paste and inked.

Side two, to coincide with the sea theme, took the form of a vintage postcard. I covered the tag in G45 paper (worked well without cutting the hole because it gave a background to the diver helmet on the other side. It wasn't quite big enough so I added a border. I die cut wish you were here in orange, die cut a camera and inked it with old silver wax before adding film strips. I distress embossed a wooden sea dollar, added some mini shells and a shrink plastic postcard. Finally I die cut a Tim Holtz beach couple.

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta...

Milestone birthday

Not mine, but an uncle, who turned 60 this week. I made a card using some tim holtz dies. I quite like the colours I used for the skull, gives him an aged quality.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the latest update  Still looks a bit of a mess at the bottom with no discernible images, but it'd getting closer to what it should be with every stitch.  Until next time Ems

Drawering a crowd

So, this week I've done something a little different. This is before... This is after.... Obviously there's two of them! These are my mums bedside drawers, which are over 30 years old and now have a new lease of life.  I've also been working on the stitch. 31% down now. Until next time Ems
